Now in its 9th series, the Bafta-nominated TV show has established itself as a who’s who of British stand up. Recorded live at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, each program delivers first-rate comedy to millions of viewers.
The programme’s creators, Open Mike Productions, asked us to design a title sequence that highlighted the show’s energy and originality whilst making reference to the theatre’s longstanding association with the world of entertainment.
The clue’s in the name; we needed to create a title sequence that captured the electric atmosphere of a live performance and to help the audience at home feel part of the crowd.
Taking inspiration from the Apollo’s art deco interior, we created the iconic red and yellow logo based on a lit up theatrical stage sign.
The fast moving animated graphics also incorporate some of the many famous faces that have appeared on the show over the years.
Live at the Apollo has become a household name with a regular slot in the BBC’s line-up.
Quite simply, there’s no mistaking this show for another. The fact that the title sequence has remained unchanged after all these years demonstrates its value in shaping the programme’s identity.
